Offshore gambling is a huge and lucrative business these days. People use to spend huge amount of dollars on poker, slots, blackjack, horse racing etc. But the credibility of online gambling is confusing to some people. Introduction of new laws have tried to deliver a strong message to operators as well as to players.

Wager Wire Act: It was introduced on February 21, 2001 by Judge Mr. Stanwood Duval of New Orleans’ United States District Court. It suggests that online casinos and online poker rooms are now covered under aimed-at-sports betting bill which means this Act does not prevent the online gambling ‘on a game of chance.’”

According to this law, it is fully illegitimate to use any electronic wire method for betting. If someone found guilty then his winning amount will be seized.

Safe Port Act: it enforces previous and existing law where legality of gaming has already been established as a matter of instance, and also the legality and illegality of different types of gaming already existing. The new bill attempts to make it more difficult to get money into a site by forbidding US financial Institutions from funding the type of online gambling that the law has previously made illegal. The new bill does not make online gaming illegal where it was not illegal before. The bill merely speaks to the mechanism by which an online account is funded.”

The law has been introduced in 2006. According to this law under the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, it is against law for the US people to use credit cards, electronic funds transfers or cheques for online betting.

Healthy Bet Reform: US government is trying to make plans to solve the problems relating huge revenue loss to the offshore gambling sites. PricewaterhouseCoopers report confers that a huge ransom up to $62.7 billion could be collected in taxes on regulated online betting in the next decade and it has been decided by the government that this fund will be used in health care reform.

You can play online betting in places where it is legal. But if playing gambling is prohibited in your state and you are still playing then you are violating the law of that state.
